Outriders is the first third-party game announced for Game Pass at launch. Still, it’s not a huge surprise. Xbox teased Outriders on Game Pass in the midst of celebrating the Bethesda acquisition and 20 Bethesda games on Game Pass in a cryptic tweet.
“Cryptic” if you haven’t played the Outriders demo, at least, in which anomalies and signals play a significant role.
Outriders on Game Pass is a good move all around, even aside from being free for subscribers. Party-based games like Outriders live or die on the size of their player base, so enticing more players through Game Pass can only be a good thing.
Hopefully, this starts a new pattern where we see future games, such as Back 4 Blood or Alien: Fireteam land on Game Pass early and maximize the player pool from the start. No waiting rooms? Yes, please.
The Outriders demo is still available if you haven’t checked it out yet. And you should. During a 2020 hands-on with Outriders, our Editor-in-Chief said it was “shaping up to be one hell of a good time.”
