Our guide will provide you with tips on how to get golden weapons in Overwatch 2.

Unlock Competitive Play

New Overwatch 2 players will have to unlock a Competitive Play mode in order to start earning Competitive Points (CP), which is the only eligible in-game currency that allows you to purchase golden weapons.

In order to unlock Competitive Play new players need to win 50 match-ups in the Quick Play mode, which can seem grindy but isn’t totally crazy.

The returning Overwatch players will have Competitive Play already unlocked, if they managed to reach at least Level 25 in the first game.

Each match-up in the Competitive mode will bring the following results:

1 Win = 15 CP 1 Draw = 5 CP

As you see, if you lose a ranked match-up, you will not earn anything, so try to win as many as you can, since you need 3,000 CP to unlock just one golden weapon. This means that you need to win 200 ranked match-ups in order to earn the required amount for just a single weapon.

Fortunately, Blizzard also rewards Competitive players with bonus earnings at the end of the season depending on your rankings:

Grandmaster rank (Top 500) = 1,750 CP Master rank = 1,200 CP Diamond rank = 750 CP Platinum rank = 500 CP Gold rank = 250 CP Silver rank = 125 CP Bronze rank = 65 CP

Purchase Golden Weapons

Once you’ve been able to accumulate 3,000 CP, you can purchase one golden weapon by following these steps:

Go to the main menu. Select “Heroes” menu and choose a hero. Go to “Weapons” tab. Select “Golden” version. Press “Purchase” to confirm.

You can repeat this for any and all weapons in the game, since all of them have golden versions.
