In 2013, Pacific Rim was a modest success in the United States, grossing $101.8 million at the domestic box office. However, it was a far bigger hit internationally, and the worldwide total of $411 million was deemed large enough to warrant the development of a sequel. That film, Pacific Rim: Uprising, is scheduled for release in February 2018 and is currently in production. Set photos of new cast members John Boyega and Scott Eastwood have made their way online in recent weeks, revealing both to be Jaeger pilots in the followup....

For those of you not familiar with Paint.NET, think of it as a FREE, quick and simple image editing application (Windows Only) whose features range between good ole’ MSPaint and Adobe Photoshop’s (probably 3/4 of the way towards Photoshop). As for Apple, per supply chain chatter relayed by DigiTimes this morning, component suppliers have begun shipping parts for iPad 3 assembly in January 2012 by Foxconn Electronics, Apple’s long-standing contract manufacturer: TPK Holding and Wintek are set to ship up to a million touch modules per month beginning mid-November, the publication reports. This story is a follow-up to DigiTimes’ Wednesday report claiming Samsung and Sharp have begun shipping iPad 3 displays....

An Associated Press review of the new Photos app for the Mac suggests that OS X 10.10.3 will be available for general download later today. The first pre-release seed of the latest version of Yosemite was made available to developers and testers back in February, with the first public beta following at the beginning of March. AP’s Anick Jesdanun was impressed with Photos, Apple’s replacement for iPhoto and Aperture, saying that the auto-fix features were particularly impressive … Apple’s new Photos app for Mac computers, available Wednesday as a free software update, makes it easy to organize and edit your pictures....

Proving it can stay competitive with iTunes Radio, the streaming music service that debuted with iOS 7, Pandora Radio is busy at work bringing new features to its own customizable streaming music service. The company released a feature update today to its iOS app bringing with it the ability to set song or artist stations as alarm clocks. While the native Clock app in iOS can awake you to a specific song, Pandora’s station alarm clock is a nice addition to iOS and a compelling reason to use Pandora Radio even if you’re an iTunes Radio evangelist....

Ahead of the macOS High Sierra release, virtualization software company Parallels has officially announced the availability of Parallels Desktop 13. Outside of bringing the traditional performance improvements, Desktop 13 introduces native Touch Bar support to Microsoft’s OS and a good portion of its most used applications. The update also brings in a slightly refreshed UI to better match macOS and visual improvements for Windows users on Retina displays. A few weeks back we got to take an early look at Parallels Desktop 13 for the Mac and what it brings to users....

Today, while sifting through Apple’s recent patent filing, I stumbled upon a patent application strengthening the claims of Rock Fix. The title of the patent application is Dual SIM Dual Standby with Caller ID Enhancement. I found that our friends at Patently Apple uncovered this patent first on July 29th in this article. Patently Apple, however, missed a unique feature mentioned in the claim 9 of patent application US’421 that sets it apart from the crowd of other dual SIM smartphones....
