Pebble has announced that its first circular smartwatch, the Pebble Time Round, will begin shipping on 8th November, and will be available in Best Buy and Target the same day, priced at $249.99. The watch offers significantly less functionality than the Apple Watch, but a much longer battery-life thanks to its always-on color e-paper display. The smartwatch was first available for preorder back in September. In addition to the round shape, the latest Pebble also has a slimmer 7....

Apple may be planning to give the next version of the Mac OS X operating system, 10.10, a larger presence than iOS 8 at this year’s Worldwide Developers Conference, according to sources with knowledge of the plans. Because OS X 10.10 will feature an end-to-end redesign, not dissimilar from the scope of the changes to the iPhone and iPad operating system with iOS 7 last year, Apple wants to heavily promote the new system to developers....

With a quick turnaround time, Pad & Quill is now offering a coaster for the HomePod, claiming “state of the art surface protection” for your wooden surfaces. After numerous reports of HomePod marking wood surfaces yesterday, many may feel that Apple’s hardware quality has slipped. The company later published a support document stating that the only real fix would be to not place HomePod on wooden surfaces, which isn’t a good answer for a product that could allegedly be placed “anywhere”....

Parallels 15 landed this week as a major new version of the Windows virtualization software for Mac. The latest update brings support for macOS Catalina, Apple’s next OS update for Mac coming later this fall, including support for features like Sidecar external display functionality with iPad and Apple Pencil. Parallels 15 also now uses Apple’s Metal API for improved graphics and DirectX 11 to allow compatibility with new CAD apps, PC games, and more....

The study is a monthly pulse study complied from 4,000 respondents in the US. Inflation is impacting vulnerable, stressed, and overextended banking customers the most, the study found. Vulnerable customers are defined as individuals who struggle month to month to meet basic needs such as bill payments. Stressed customers make monthly payments but can’t plan for future finances, and overextended customers have a future plan – like a 401K through their work – but struggle to meet monthly needs....

Paramount is developing a television series based on The Vampire Chronicles. In 1976, author Anne Rice published what would be the first novel in a long series of books. The first book - Interview with the Vampire - introduced the character of Lestat de Lioncourt as the antagonist to hero Louis de Pointe du Lac. Starting with the second book - The Vampire Lestat - the former antagonist became the protagonist, and most of the books in the series have remained Lestat’s story - with a few exceptions that explore other characters....

At long last PayPal has updated its iOS app with a completely redesigned interface that optimizes the experience for iPhone 6/iPhone 6s and 6 Plus/6s Plus users. PayPal announced the update in a post on its blog, detailing all of the new features, including a new start screen, improved Send and Request interface, new account info details, and much more. The most notable change, though, is an entirely new interface. When you first open the redesigned app, you’re presented with a new start screen that offers the ability to quickly manage your balance, see recent activity, send money, request money, and quickly pay in-store....

Pedro Pascal doesn’t play The Mandalorian in every episode, it has now been revealed. Thanks in large part to the unstoppable Baby Yoda phenomenon, The Mandalorian has become a breakout hit for the streaming service Disney+. This is certainly great news for fans hoping Disney will continue generating a lot more Star Wars content for the new outlet (though don’t expect that content to include a show featuring Rise of Skywalker actors Oscar Isaac and John Boyega, as they’ve both made it clear they have no interest)....

The nominations for the 92nd Academy Awards were finally announced on January 13th, 2020. While there were many movies nominated, it’s likely that even movie buffs haven’t seen them all. After a pilot of its new “Sponsored Listening” advertisements last year, streaming music service Pandora Radio announced today that it’s rolling out the feature to all advertisers and listeners in its mobile apps. The feature rewards users with an hour of ad-free, uninterrupted listening as long as they first interact with an ad for at least 15 seconds. Pandora says listeners and advertisers responded positively to the pilot program with a 12 percent increase in brand awareness and a 30 percent increase in purchase intent, so now the company is rolling out the feature as a core part of its advertising efforts and to all of its approximately 80 million users....

When Google showed off Android 3.0 Honeycomb in February 2011, to me it signaled the beginning of the end for hardware buttons. Practically every mobile device that’s been sold before that demo has included at least one button on the face of the device. Apple has the iconic home key, most Android phones used to have four dedicated capacitive keys, and if you look back far enough, you could see Palm OS and Windows Mobile both had similar controls....

Parks & Recreation wasn’t a series with a lot of foreshadowing, but it did have a small tease regarding Leslie and Ron’s feud in season 7 all the way back in season 2. Created by Michael Schur and Greg Daniels, Parks & Recreation made its debut on NBC in 2009 and came to an end in 2015 after seven seasons. The series was originally planned as a spinoff of The Office, and struggled a bit to find its own tone and style, hence why season 1 isn’t exactly the best....

When asked about the meme in an interview, Ant-Man actor Paul Rudd says that he considers it a “lost opportunity”. Marvel superhero Ant-Man was introduced in the MCU in his 2015 solo movie starring Paul Rudd. While Ant-Man has had several iterations in the comics, Rudd would play Scott Lang, a thief turned hero when the previous Ant-Man, Hank Pym (played by Michael Douglas), gives him the Ant-Man suit....

Apple has begun airing a new TV ad to promote the iPhone 5s that focuses on uses by parents within both “Smart Homes” and in everyday family life. The ad, aptly named “Parenthood,” shows how the iPhone can be used to record home video, find a lost dog, monitor the children, and turn off the lights in the living room. The ad comes ahead of HomeKit Smart Home appliance integration with iOS 8 this fall....
