For the first time since the iTunes Store in 2003, digital music sales have declined over the past year, reports Billboard. Specifically, individual song downloads took the biggest hit, dropping to 1.26 billion—a 5.7% from the previous year’s total. Entire albums fared substantially better, with only a 0.1% drop overall from 2012. So far there are no official numbers on streaming music, so it’s quite possible (and likely) that streaming solutions such as iTunes Radio have actually overtaken purchases as the preferred method of listening....

Launch the Mac App Store from the Dock. Click the Purchases icon. Then hover your cursor over an app you want to hide. A small X icon will appear to the right. Simply click it to hide the app. Display Purchased Apps It’s best to hide apps judiciously because to display them takes more steps. But it can be done. Overwatch Game Director Jeff Kaplan revealed yesterday that the game will begin testing Triple Damage mode today, an experimental mode in which three Damage characters can be placed on one team. This news is the fulfillment of a promise Kaplan made in last month’s Developer Update to bring players a new feature the developers are calling the “Experimental Card.” These game modes essentially are ways for the Overwatch team to monitor player engagement and use the feedback they receive to enhance the overall experience....

Pandora is a music streaming and discovery service owned by Sirius XM Holdings. It lets users create stations based on the songs, artists, or genres they like, which will then play related songs. It uses the “Music Genome Project” that focuses on recommendations based on individuals listening preferences and musical traits. It uses the user’s listening data, recommends the best songs that the person would enjoy the most, and leaves out the ones they might not....

Update: Home Depot says it plans to accept Apple Pay in the near future. Home Depot appears to have quietly stopped accepting Apple Pay. Although never officially named as a partner, the company has supported contactless payment and Apple Pay used to work in at least some of its stores. An Apple support document updated last week lists Home Depot as one of the stores that “might not currently be set up” to accept Apple Pay....

Peloton bikes and treadmills already work with Apple’s Health app on iPhone, but there’s no Apple Watch app integration yet. That could soon change according a new report on the company’s rumored rower machine and cheaper treadmill. Here’s the mention: Peloton’s iPhone app already supports saving workout data captured from the Internet-connected stationary bike and treadmill to the built-in Health app on iPhone. You can also log workouts from the Apple Watch using the built-in Workout app or other software, but there’s no dedicated Peloton app for Apple Watch yet....

Apple today seeded the second beta of the upcoming OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 update to registered developers and participants in the AppleSeed program. The update is available for these users in the Software Update tab of the Mac App Store. As with the first beta, Apple asks developers to focus their testing on WiFi-connectvitiy, Exchange accounts in the Mail app, and Notification Center. Apple has not indicated when OS X 10....

These scams happen when adversaries trick individuals into transferring funds by acting as legitimate companies. Paying just a single fraudulent bill can set you up for being a victim of a bigger fraud down the line. Phishers can send fake invoices/bills to both individuals and companies. Last year, a Lithuanian man pleaded guilty for sending bogus invoices for computer gear to Facebook and Google. The scam allowed the fraudster to bilk the tech giants out of $123 million over the course of two years....

It’s no secret that Pandora has struggled to adapt to the new era of on-demand streaming services. Capping off a series of unfortunate events for the company was the departure of its long-time CEO Tim Westergren earlier this year. Today, however, Pandora announced that it has named former Sling TV CEO Roger Lynch as its new CEO and president, as well as a member of its board. Lynch was the founding CEO of Sling TV, having previously held positions at Dish Network, Chello Broadband, and EchoStar....

Yesterday in the US Patent and Trademark Office database surfaced an interesting Apple patent providing a glimpse of an exciting software feature that could be possibly used to enhance the user interface for handling apps that multitask on an iPad. Originally filed in the third quarter of 2009 and entitled “Device, method, and graphical user interface for manipulating workspace views”, the patent application describes methods for solving cumbersome and inefficient moving of one or more windows between workspaces, or seeing several workspace views simultaneously....

We’ve just been tipped that Pages for iPad has Retina display icons. We’ve verified the findings, above. Our first thought was, oh dang, the iPad 2 is going to have Retina! But these icons don’t have iPad suffixes. Another equally interesting possibility exists. Pages, along with the rest of iWork, might be making its way, at long last, to the iPhone 4 and iPod touch with Retina. In either case (or if this is just Apple making bigger icons for the sake of being safe), we’ve also been hearing to expect updated versions of iWork and iWork....
