Panic’s Coda web code editor has joined the dark side, at least for macOS Mojave users. Coda 2.7 for Mac now supports Apple’s system-wide Dark Mode appearance feature when running macOS 10.14 or later, and all Coda users will appreciate a general appearance refresh including a new coat of paint on the app icon. Although these translucent televisions were presented earlier this year at the Consumer Electronics Show 2016, held in Las Vegas. But, Panasonic has improved its prototype by replacing the LCD screen for making the OLED TV in almost with a sheet of glass. Panasonic posted a video on its Facebook page where it showed off its futuristic television that became a transparent glass when turned off. This Panasonic TV has a fine mesh screen OLED-embedded within a sliding glass door of a common piece of furniture in the house....
Parallels introduced a big update today for Parallels Desktop 8 for Mac. It includes new features for Windows 8 users, full USB 3.0 support, and improved Retina display settings. On top of support for Windows 8 tablet gestures, Parallels is including a Windows 8 tile that allows users to access shared Mac apps. According to Parallels, the update also includes faster USB 3.0 performance, an increased limit for virtual machines running large apps, and “Smooth transitions when entering and exiting Coherence mode”:...
The Paranoid Android team today released the second alpha build of their ROM based on Lollipop. This build comes more than a month after the team had released their initial Lollipop based build. Paranoid Alpha 5.0 Alpha 2 re-introduces some of the features that were previously found in the KitKat builds of the ROM. This includes App Ops: a permission manager, and the ability to reorder the tiles in Quick Settings....
The Panasonic-branded CM1, an Android phone with a ridiculous camera on the back, was unveiled in September 2014, and now it’s been confirmed that the device is indeed launching in the U.S. at some point in the future. When the device was first announced, a U.S. launch was still undetermined. However, apparently the people in charge of these types of decisions have indeed determined that bringing the ridiculous camera to the United States is a good idea....

The trailer and poster have arrived for Ron Howard’s documentary, Pavarotti. As its title implies, the film chronicles the life and times of the Italian opera singer Luciano Pavarotti, complete with archival footage of the late artist and interviews with those who knew him conducted in the present. This is far from Howard’s first time calling the shots on a documentary either, what with the Oscar-winner having previously worked on Made in America (a documentary about Jay-Z’s “Budweiser Made in America” music festival) and The Beatles: Eight Days a Week (which compiles footage and clips from The Beatles’ 250 concerts during the 1960s)....

Pandora announced today that it’s acquiring Rdio for $75 million with plans to integrate the competitive music streaming service’s technology into its own service pending the usual government approvals. Pandora isn’t planning on continuing the Rdio service or even purchasing the company itself, but rather buying Rdio’s technology and some of its talent as Rdio goes bankrupt and begins to shut down its service. In addition to acquiring technology and intellectual property from Rdio, many members of Rdio’s team will be offered roles with Pandora, subject to close of the agreement....

This extended commuting time on trains provides me with the opportunity to thoroughly test new mobile technology. In March, the commute stopped as our engineering firm went fully remote in response to the coronavirus pandemic. I continue to test out new mobile technology and as you can see in the images boxes continue to stack up. My home office provides a separation between my engineering work and my freelance writing with many Star Wars items occupying the walls and shelves of my office....
