Remember Paranoid Android? The custom ROM that was known for coming up with unique new features like Halo? The team and the ROM largely died after majority of the members behind the ROM were hired by OnePlus to work on their OxygenOS. Well, the ROM is now back with new team members and spanking new build for some of the most popular devices out there.
The team announced their comeback through a post on their official Google+ page detailing the new features and enhancements that they have added in their latest Paranoid Android build. This includes custom Quick Settings tile customisation support, floating window, immersive mode, a new on-the-spot interface, and CyanogenMod’s theme engine. There are a lot of device-specific changes as well, including custom kernels, gestures, and more for optimum performance on each device that the ROM runs on. For now, the first builds of Paranoid Android 2016 are available for the following devices:
Nexus 6P Nexus 5X Nexus 9 Nexus 6 Nexus 5 Nexus 4 Nexus 7 (2013) OnePlus One OnePlus 2 OnePlus X
You can download the latest build of Paranoid Android for any of the devices mentioned above from here. The custom ROM scene has gotten pretty stale of late, with CyanogenMod being the only actively developed ROM. So, it is nice to see the Paranoid Android team making a return, as it could lead to some innovative new features to emerge from their stable.
