April Ludgate (also known as Janet Snakehole) is the dry and mysterious woman who works for Pawnee’s Parks and Recreation Department before moving on to the American Service Foundation in the last season. While we’ve really seen April grow as a person throughout Parks and Rec’s seven seasons, she still had her jerk moments with everyone in the office (including her BFF Ron Swanson).

Most of April’s attacks were directed towards Ann Perkins and Jerry, but she still had some pretty awful moments with people she respected. Although April has grown as a woman, a wife, and as a professional, we’re taking a look at 10 of her not-so-becoming moments on Parks and Rec.

PUTTING LARRY’S EMAILS IN THE TRASH

In the fifth season, we’re introduced to Jerry’s beautiful life outside of work. We meet his stunning wife and three daughters and learn that Jerry may be a dork at work but he’s killing it in his personal life.

On the night April, Andy, Tom, and Donna celebrate their hatred of Jerry, they have a change of heart and decide to invite him out to dinner. After arriving to his home, they realize he’s throwing a massive Christmas party where other co-workers are also there. Bewildered as to why they weren’t invited, we find out that April marked all of Jerry’s as spam and that they were actually invited to begin. It’s sad that Jerry invited April to his home after she was ready to celebrate a night despising him.

MAKING FUN OF BEN AT WORK

After Ben and Leslie decide to give their relationship a real try, Ben gets a gig in Washington D.C. He decides to take the job and brings April with him as his assistant. With both Ben and April doing long distance with their lovers in Pawnee, we expected these two to bond. However, April decided to grieve in her own way.

We find out Ben feels like there’s distance and a lack of respect between him and his interns. He later finds an unflattering cartoon of him hung on the wall. Thinking it was one of the interns who was hazing him, it turned out to be April who drew it. To make matters worse, there was a rumor that April was his weird daughter. Knowing that the lack of respect was coming from his friend and closest companion in D.C. hurt Ben and was pretty lousy of April.

NOT TELLING ANN THAT CHRIS CANCELED THEIR LUNCH DATE

In the third season, we see Ann and Chris begin dating. As different as these two were they actually were a cute couple (that is until he breaks up with her without Ann knowing). However, at one point Chris loses his assistant and asks Ron if he can borrow April for a few weeks to land on his feet.

April does a good job helping Chris but when he asks her to cancel his lunch date with Ann, she “forgets,” which leaves Ann stood up at lunch. Ann, of course, confronts April and realizes this was April’s doing but it was still hurtful for Ann to sit there at lunch alone, overthinking about why her boyfriend stood her up without as much as a text.

MAKING ANDY DO HER CHORES FOR A MONTH

It’s always a secret that April had a crush on Andy but viewers could see the magic forming between them from afar. Once Andy finds out how April feels, he lands himself in the hospital. His ex-girlfriend Ann rushes to his bedside where she kisses him. The two both knew it was weird and she quickly departed. Before he could make things official with April though, Andy told her that he and Ann kissed, which turned April a tad crazy.

To win her back (and keep her from moving to Indiana), Andy promised to do all of April’s chores for a month to prove his love for her. We see Andy get into quite a few sad scenarios which wasn’t fair. It’s not like he and April were dating when he and Ann kissed. He’s a silly guy who didn’t deserve that kind of treatment.

THROWING OUT CHRIS’S KEYS AT THE HALLOWEEN PARTY

In the fourth season, April and Andy decide to throw a Halloween party at their house. It’s around this time where Chris is still dating Jerry’s daughter and she comes to the Halloween party which didn’t originally upset Jerry but later did (after they were seen making out everywhere).

Oddly enough, it appears April has a small part of her heart understand Jerry’s uncomfortability, which made her retaliate by throwing Chris’s car keys in the trash. We later see Chris looking for his car keys, making viewers wonder how April can even sleep at night knowing how scary it is to lose your car keys.

LEAVING A SCATHING REVIEW OF DONNA’S WORK ETHIC

In the sixth season we see Ron and Diane happily together. In an effort to become a family man, he helps his new step-daughter adopt a dog with the help of April and Donna who are working for the animal shelter on a part-time basis. Here, April is now Donna’s supervisor as she’s the Director of Animal Control.

Oddly enough, this is one position April actually gets upset about when she finds Donna slacking at work. Instead of approaching her in a mature way, April decides to write a horrible review about Donna online. As we soon find out, Donna knew it was April who wrote the review and was hurt by the undermining and rude words.

BEING RUDE TO ANN WHEN SHE WAS SICK IN THE HOSPITAL

In the third season, we see that April, Leslie, and Chris all get the flu. With their symptoms being bad enough to land them in the hospital, who better to be their nurse than Ann Perkins!

While Ann is running around trying to keep Leslie in bed and keeping Chris off his death bed, April is too busy making Ann’s life a living hell. She calls her horrible names and makes her job harder than it is. Ann finally rips into her when she’s off the clock—which shocks April—but it was still pretty upsetting.

GIVING ANN ATTITUDE WHEN SHE DRIVES HER TO BLOOMINGTON

Throughout the series we see April trying to find herself. She likes her co-workers but isn’t sure if she wants to work for the government forever. If there’s one thing we see April come alive around, it’s animals, which is why she hesitantly asked Ann to help her with her veterinary school application.

Ann, out of the kindness of her heart, decides to not only write a review for April but drives her to Bloomington too! She stays the entire day to make sure April is comfortable and to help her reach a decision. All the while, April is busy insulting Ann, ditching the school tour, and dreading the fact that they’re in the car together.

TURNING WINE INTO A JOKE

In later seasons, we see Tom preparing to open Tom’s Bistro. Thankfully, he has some amazing help from his buddies in Pawnee. In an attempt to learn more about wine, Tom, April, and Donna attend a vineyard to see sommeliers compare and contrast different wines.

Now, while it was hilarious seeing April mockingly describe and smell wines, in reality this would upset serious winemakers and tasters who wait all year for this event.

SHUTTING DOWN LESLIE WHEN ASKED HER FOR HELP

As Parks and Recreation progresses, we see Leslie get further in her political career. She’s lucky to have some help but for whatever reason continues to ask April for advice. In one scene, we see Leslie reading her speech to April in which April responds, “I think you should lose the first line and the last line and all of the other lines. And instead, just walk up to the mic and meow really loudly.”

Considering how serious Leslie’s campaign was, it’s frustrating to see April treat Leslie so poorly when she needs help.
